Today I (Jeri) formally announced my retirement from my 19 year career with United Way of Snohomish County. It was bittersweet. I am SO ready for this, but this is (was) a huge part of my life and I really feel the old chapter ending and the new chapter beginning. It felt like a huge weight coming off of my shoulders because we have been planning this for so long. But I’m committed to giving this my very best for the remaining 4 months and fully supporting our new CEO who begins in January. I’m sad not to be able to work with her. She is full of energy and new ideas and is just the right person to take our United Way into the future to make a dent in breaking the cycle of poverty in our community. But at the same time, I know that my time “on the stage” has passed, and it’s time for someone new, and energetic to take my place. Such mixed emotions! Still, I think about when we hit the road, and every day will be a new beginning, new adventure, new people to meet and things to experience. And all with the love of my life. Can’t wait!!!
